Preview: Data models

We've been working hard on the upcoming modeling tool for our Ecome Manager, and here's a little preview of what's brewing. The modeling tool allows you to create your own data models such as news, blog or product to be used wherever on your site easy as just a few clicks. After you've created your own data model, or chosen one from the presets, you can start creating content for your site easier and faster than ever before. For example to create a new blog post, you would just simply create a new blog model item and populate the required fields such as title, author and the blog text. No more creating a new page for each new blog post, or having to format the content for each post individually. The view logic is completely separated from the data model, which means that all your model items will look consistent on your site.

The models integrate directly into your site in many ways. You can create listings of your model in the navigation by simply creating a model folder and specifying the model you want to list items for. There are various advanced options that let you generate exactly the kind of navigation listings you need for your site. For example you could generate a news archive where the news are grouped by a year in a few clicks. In addition to the seamless integration to your site's navigation, you can also create model item listings or display featured items in your site's content area by using our new highly customizable model component.

All of this is working on top of our highly dynamic and intuitive user interface, integrating directly to the page browser, which you are probably already familiar with. The data model and items you create will instantly work on your site, without having write any code to display them. However for users who want to go the extra mile to customize the look of the model listings and views, we provide easy-to-use templates that let you customize the look and feel of your models exactly the way you want it.

That concludes our preview of the Ecome Manager's data models. We're excited and working hard to bring you the new way of building dynamic content for your site as soon as possible. Keep tuned!
